A Community Landmark for over 78 years
The Deltaville Ballpark is the oldest all-wooden baseball stadium in Virginia. Maintained throughout the decades by the ballpark committee and dedicated volunteers from across the entire community, the ballpark continues to serve as a local icon and hosts over 70 events a year.

Deltaville Ballpark early 1950’s – The original fence was outside the light poles!

Deltaville Ballpark 1980’s – The outfield fence was moved in the 70’s just inside the light poles, as well as a number of changes to the grandstand. The first concession stand had been added by this time.

Deltaville Ballpark 2015 – The dugouts were moved and enlarged in the 1996 renovation, and enclosed bullpens were added down the foul lines as well.

Deltaville Ballpark 2023 – After 8 years of renovations, the grandstand roof, concession, bathrooms, ADA enhancements, scoreboard, and new LED lights were completed.
We are working on cataloging and digitizing our historical content and could use help!
We have tons of historical writings about Deltaville Ballpark, but very few pre-2000’s photographs, and only a couple pre-1990’s photos. Do you have some old family albums that contain photos of events, games or players at the Deltaville Ballpark? We would LOVE to hear from you!
Glowing Reviews of the Ballpark
“On a whim, we turned onto Ballpark Road and soon saw before us an old wooden ballpark with a halo of bright lights staring down at the field within. At first we didn’t see a soul, but we could hear voices from inside the ballpark, and as we passed through a wooden gate, our feet seemed to mystically step into another time.”
Thomas Boyd, Richmond Times-Dispatch
“A lot of baseball fans will offer you a laundry list of ‘what’s wrong with the game today.’ They will tell you the players are overpaid and unresponsive to the fans. They will tell you that the game is too expensive for families and that the ballpark atmosphere has become too commercialized. They will lament that the sport has gotten away from its pastoral roots… They have never been to a Deltaville Deltas game.”
Mike Holtzclaw, Daily Press
“The community couldn’t be more intense about baseball, having supported the national pastime for decades. Deltaville Ballpark makes the heart sing. A wooden grandstand…looks like the exhibit hall at an old county fair. Batboys, hotdogs and half smokes, a nesting osprey atop one of the outfield light poles are all part of its appeal.”
